Information for Medical Professionals

Gold Coast Pathology is a privately owned pathology practice with a mission to provide a high quality histopathology and cytopathology service to the medical community of the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.

Our aim is to provide exceptionally high quality service in a timely manner to all our customers with particular focus on patient care.

With the laboratory based in Burleigh Heads, referrers can rest assured that their patient’s specimens are being processed locally and not having to endure the potential risks associated with transporting their patient’s specimens interstate.

Dr Robson and the team at Gold Coast Pathology provide a professional histopathology and cytopathology service to all clinicians and provide a fast, accurate, reliable service.

Gold Coast Pathology works towards having a fast turnaround time for result generation of 24 hours for the majority of reports with the exception of frozen sections or larger specimens. There may be times when specimens require further testing which could possibly delay the results.

Our network of couriers ensures that specimens are collected in a timely manner and returned to the laboratory for processing ensuring the fastest turnaround time possible.

Gold Coast Pathology strives to provide a quality and professional service meeting the demands of all their customers by:

• Ease of report comprehension
• Pathologist and Laboratory contact access
• Courier service
• Stock Ordering

Gold Coast Pathology is proud to be an education provider of the RACGP in the 2023-2025 triennium.

Gold Coast Pathology’s Surgical Skin Cancer Audit has been developed for referring Doctors to improve the quality of care and outcomes for their patients. Participation in our clinical audit allows the General Practitioner to both evaluate and subsequently improve their clinical practice around the treatment of skin cancer lesions.

Our Surgical Skin Cancer Audit has been approved by the RACGP CPD program as a CPD Accredited Activity. Upon completion of our audit and having fulfilled the clinical requirements: completing 2 consecutive 6 month intervals,  reviewing their individualised reports, submitting the audit reports and the final evaluation questionnaire over a 12 month period. The General Practitioner will be allocated a total of 25 hours – Measuring Outcomes 15.0 hours and Reviewing Performance 10.0 hours.

After completing the Gold Coast Pathology’s Surgical Skin Cancer Audit the GP’s will be able to evaluate their specific data regarding their clinical practice. They will be able to measure their provisional diagnosis accuracy vs the differential diagnosis along with being able to be able to compare margin clearance against peers all whilst in a confidential setting.

They can then utilize this data to access further training and education to improve their knowledge and surgical outcomes of their patients; with the goal of improving the overall management and treatment of their patients in line with best practices.

All reports / results are completely confidential.
